** WARNING: Contains spoilers! **It was remarkably difficult to figure out how many stars to give. I devoured the book, as I do all of CC's books. The Fargo adventures are fun to read, and I really like the whole husband-and-wife team. They are set up as real equals and have a distinct charm about them. However, I did take issue with a few things:1) While I love the different locales, I felt the trips to Nova Scotia and Brazil were contrived and added purely for filler. When you think about it, they added very little to the plot. There was also next to no transition - they just seemed to magically appear everywhere. One page they're in South Beach, the next they're checking into their hotel in England.2) The ending was way to abrupt for me. I get emotionally invested in these stories. Toward the end I was hoping for there to be a good 'rubbing-in' by the Fargos on Avery, Fisk, Ivan, and Jak. Instead, the bad guys just get shot and Avery's end is dealt with in a single sentence. And there was no explanation for the Fargos' declining any honors in locating the treasure. They always got it before, why not for this one?3) I realize that there wouldn't be much suspense were it otherwise, but there needs to be a better explanation for why the Fargos don't just hire Archer's outfit to provide security for the treasure hunt. They apparently have no issues packing a squad of heavily armed good guys on a boat in Brazil and then paying for continued surveillance of Larayne, so why not bring along a security detail wherever they go? Like I said, it wouldn't make for much suspense if they did, but maybe take Archer out of the picture entirely as an option to at least explain it?
