Being new to the hammered dulcimer, I have bought 5 different books, but this book is by far the most organized and varied. It has a well-organized Table of Contents, listing songs by skill level (novice, intermediate, advanced), Dance types (Reels, Figs, Hornpipes, Waltzes), and Time Periods (Celtic, "Old Time Tunes", International, Renaissance, Victorian). A very nice addition are the 7 duets! But perhaps the most valuable aspect of this book is the LARGE print which makes reading music infinitely easier, and the grouping of pcs for special occasions. Because of that, I am able to set realistic goals and monitor my progress more easily. Peggy Carter makes it very easy for the beginning dulcimist to progress from student to performer.
I love these songs and the way that Peggy has arranged the book. I especially like the songs arranged for two hammered dulcimers.Thanks, Peggy!
Nice collection of music for the musician looking for just the right tune.A must for one who performs often, or who just likes to play a nice variety of good arrangements.
Will use this for performing in church! My hammered dulcimer workshop wants to work on one of these songs soon
