these songs are all wonderful, great memories for older people, and will give younger ones a taste of traditional spirituals. these are not simple harmonic duets, but great arrangements of two lines of melody interposed (is that the right term?) almost like a "round" or counterbalanced verses of the same or different hymns. they're not terribly difficult, but require a little work to get singers working together! perhaps old-fashioned, but extremely enjoyable...
. . . Will easily be able to use this book to provide special music for our church. Several of the songs are particularly nice arrangements.
Love the Spiritual selections and sounds wonderful sung in duet with a skillful pianist.
It's a good book, but the songs are for upper middle school or high school.
