This book is full of grammatical errors, spelling mistakes and illogical sentence structure. It was really hard to focus on the content because it's so badly written. It's also really short and took me about 15 minutes to read. It's as though the author had recorded his thoughts and had someone who speaks English as a second language type them up and then published without proof reading. I don't mind people bringing God and Jesus into the conversation if it's relevant, however both times it was a weird tangent that didn't add to the discussion.Rather than an ultimate guide this is a brief synopsis.
The book was informative and plainly written so the novice mind can understand the basics of starting up a business and getting funding. There was not great detail in the advice but it gave you a good starting point.
This is the second book I have read by Tokan, and I like the author's style of getting the message across. He presents the material in a fashion that is easy to understand for individuals that are just starting out in business. But the information does not just target beginners.I think that one of the biggest takeaways was the concept of how to appeal to a bank manager. There are numerous mistakes that many businesses make when asking for funding from a bank. The book provides tips on what you can do to provide confidence that you will be successful (and, therefore, receive your funding). One thing that I do want to point out is that there are a few minor editing errors. But this does not take away from the message of the book.If I had to choose ONE thing from this book that is a necessity for any business owner or entrepreneur, I would have to say that the links that are provided are a MUST HAVE. There are a number of critical links throughout that take you to funding hubs where you can find all sorts of possible contributors.
Mr. Tokan is a clever man whose knowledge is apparent in this business book.He leaves no matter untouched in regards to business funding. There are always lots of questions when it comes to money and business, and he answers them all.I really enjoyed the reasons he gave for start-up businesses failing. The reasons surprised me! And I enjoyed just as much his advice on how to make your business fundable, where to find money, and how to think like an investor. We live in a competitive world and as a business, you must be prepared. Sometimes, there's little to no room for business errors. Fortunately, with this book, you can prevent your business from making those errors. If you're a new business or trying to start one, this is the book to buy. It will get you going in the right direction for funding.
As a honours graduate of a business program, I am a lover of anything "business" and especially like watching television programs like Dragon's Den and Shark Tank. Tokan's guide is a short book that can be read quickly but that provides tons of useful information.I appreciated the answers to the most common questions about raising money for your business, along with the top 10 reasons why people fail to get the finances they require. Tokan ends with over 7 ideas on where to go to get financing. I'd recommend this guide to anyone considering starting a new business. Please note: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
as I've been applying for loans to start my own business I'm hearing the same stuff, how much equity do you have and credit score. he talked about doing a business plan for $2-$5k, just take out a conventional loan vs. that butt pain and bring in an expert from the field your trying to build as part of your management team?? I am the management team...
This book is packed full of useful information, that most lay people would be able to access easily, but is very useful and handy to have when you run a business like I do. The book talks about the pitfalls that you could encounter as you start on your journey to raise funding and how best to tackle them. I have given 5 stars because of the overall value and positive experience I have gained from the book. I did notice that the author repeated some of the points quite a few times and this just helped provide emphasis even though some others may see it as a negative point.I feel this book is useful for new start-up businesses as well as those who think they will need funding in the future. In fact, there is something in there for every business owner.
