I have to say that not only is this book amazing but also it answers everything I could have ever asked. I have read both of this authors books and they are just perfect! I love this book and I refer back to it very often. I find it hard to get help in the area I live as I work so much and theres not anywhere to go to be taught. This book has already taught me a great deal. It not only covers how to throw but also the position you should be in and common errors. I am also going back to the author's website (pottery-on-the-wheel.com) and reading the blogs posted there as well as they can be very informational and helpfull too. I cannot wait for this author to produce a third book.SincerelyKatrina from Florida
All the right information to begin your journey is presented in a positive Can Do style. Ive been at this for over ten years and agree with everything he says.KILNS are still a mystery to me so I enjoyed that chapter as well as the decorations!
This book stands out from other instructions I've read on using the wheel. It gives precise details in steps that really give a clear idea of how the wheel is used.
Would be good for new potter, or someone thinking about doing pottery. It was too basic for me, and much was already on his website.
No pictures. Dull. I'm a visual person, and reading script is hard to translate into carrying it over to performance.
This book was selected because I am working with youth who have mental health issues and I've found clay to be a great medium for keeping hands busy, so the thoughts can flow and be discussed with ease. I wanted to 'graduate' my patients into the world of pottery wheels and give them additional ways to create and share tangible work products. The book was simple enough for young teens to read along with me. However, it didn't compromise quality and experience in the art form.
I'm dissappointed that this book does not have any pictures. What is written is fine but if you're new at this you need illustrations and pictures as well.
poorly written. uses many pottery terms without giving a definition which is not helpful since this book was written for beginners. very general information.. few photos.
