Quite detailed book, but very interesting one. I read it all in one go. Interesting pictures and illustrations made it easier to understand the concept. The book goes further in teaching drawing. It starts with doodling, sketching and gel pen art. What I liked about this book is the right approach. How do you teach drawing to kid? I guess the final chapter was written on this topic. As a beginner, I really liked the tricks and I feel like it is very easier to create those drawing patterns. Good effort by the author.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and trying some of the art in it. It shows you how to take simple patterns and expand them out into fabulous drawings. I really appreciate how the book doesn't assume you are an expert. In fact, many of the illustrations are of a style that I can draw better than them. This gives me a sense of understanding that you don't have to be an expert to really master drawing. In fact, not knowing much is a great start when approaching this book. I give this one full 5 stars because it isn't only very creative and original, it also doesn't make me feel like an idiot like so many other art books!
I was blown away at the amount of useful information this book had. The last time I did anything artistic was in high school nearly ten years ago. Let's just say my "skill" have dwindled away. I wanted to try and get back into drawing and this book was the best thing I could have done for that. It has easy to follow instructions on how to "doodle" your way back into sketching. I specifically enjoyed learning the decorative lettering. I will be using a lot of these strategies over the years to come.
Great Book on Doodling! I grew up doodling. After reading this book and looking back on all the doodling I did growing up, I realize how much pleasure I received from it. The part of the book I really liked was the part about how to get your kids involved in drawing and doodling. I have a child who is naturally gifted when it comes to drawing, and the suggestions in the chapter on how to involve your kids were excellent! Really great book - I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I like this book quite a lot. I got it as a review of basic drawing principles I learned in college, and for this it is really useful. It reviews much of what I learned in the first four art classes I had, explaining tools, going over basic skills like how to hold a pencil for different effects, creating value cards, and starting out with the basic shapes of an item and working towards the details
I like this book because it teaches us the doodling drawing. This book is very helpful so that I can teach the doodling drawing to my children. The kids will love this kind of drawing method. It is like an abstract drawing but you follow some patterns. Thank you for this book and thumbs up for the author.
I've recently returned to pen and paper and gave up on my electronic note taking. Mainly my Erin Condren planner. All over Instagram, Pinterest, Facebook and Youtube are images and videos of the doodles the "talented' people to pretty up their planners. I thought I was creative when I was little but lost it when I got older. This book helped me find that creativity again. As an adult, my mind needs processes and steps to follow, it can't just create for the sake of creating anymore. The author explains what types of pens to look for, how doodling can be relaxing and therapeutic, how doodling can get your kids to start using their creativity and even specific doodling terminology (which I never knew existed) like the pincushion effect. The book has you start as a beginner doodling using a string as your guide. This never would have occurred to me to use! It helps to give you ideas and structure without yet needing to put pen to paper. If you are looking to pick up the kind of creativity you had back in study hall, just trying to make your doodling look better than your 3 year old's coloring book, or really want to produce great designs and patters, this easy, structured read is what you need get started again. I highly recommend this well laid out book.
This book is an great guide for learning to draw. Its instructions are extremely clear on how to learn to doodle and create amazing pieces of work. Its a perfect guide for beginners and goes through a step by step guide on how to do this. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more.
