Fashion Is Freedom is an inspiring story about a girl with a big heart and a rebellious way that does not mean to harm just show we do not always have to do what society dictates to us at various ages in our life. Clever, cheeky, fun, inspirational and easy to relate to. Whether it is fashion or something else in your life that drives you, Tala's message is loud and clear in the book: follow your dreams, take risks and never give up. Her attention to detail transports you to Iran, a country with so many contradictions, that fascinate those who have never been. Her stories come alive through her humorous and vivid anecdotes. You will not want to put this book down and will feel as you read it a cheerleader for Tala because she is so determined and passionate.
An incredible page turner that welcomes you into the psyche of a fearless and passionate swimsuit designer, Tala Raassi. The book takes you on a journey to Iran pre and post-revolution with intricate details such as the surrounding smells, food, nightlife and political life. At times gripping, this book is also full of fun stories that anyone can relate to whether it is going after your dreams or trying to navigate life in a new country. It's honest, beautifully written and a must read
Tala's journey to become the woman that she is today is an inspiring read. Life has knocked her down many times and she has never given up--a quality that many of us would like to try and achieve. As an American, it was very interesting to also learn about a culture and a country that most schools don't teach students about. I recommend reading this memoir if you want to feel uplifted and inspired.
