It has only taken me one day to complete this well-written biography by Cookie Johnson. This quick read left no questions unanswered and no stones unturned. For that, I thank her. She has opened up her heart and her life which was filled with as much hurt and devastation as blessings and triumphs. Cookie Johnson is strong and inspiring. This book had humbled me and made me understand the power of being patient and believing in God. As a huge fan of Magic Johnson in the late '80's, after reading her biography I can now say that Cookie is my new hero.
Believing in Magic is just that, Magic. Earvin and Cookie were made for each other. In Believing in Magic, we get to know Cookie. Most know her has Magic's wife and EJ's mother, but in this book, you get to see her as a woman of God who will go toe to toe with the devil before she allows the devil to tai hold her family. This book is a love story that truly will touch every person who reads this book. E and E, God truly put two special people together to create a life of love, Family, and God (not in that order). Cookie is the real MVP in Magic's life. Magic was talented basketball player and phenomenal businessman, but with a GOOD woman standing beside him and walking every inch of the way, he would not be the Magic we all have come to know. Cookie showed how it is beyond acceptable to pursue your career goals and still have a relationship with a professional basketball player. Cookie you have shown that a real woman fights (spiritually) for her marriage and family.
Beautifully written, you can't help but to love it!
Cookie Johnson has written a candid memoir about her life as the wife and mother (to his kids) of Magic Johnson. With raw emotion she shares what it's like to experience the ups and downs of love and in her case all in the public eye. A story that is both comforting and relatable to women of all walks of life.
