Each beautifully-designed, full-color issue goes beyond the comfort zone of the "alternative" norm to deliver a diverse cross section of the most influential and defining art of our time. Satisfies your cravings for new and unique art, happening just below the radar; Art that informs, rather than follows trends in mainstream media including film, fashion and design.

It's one thing to draw, or paint, or sculpt well; it's quite another to create art that transcends words, art that can only be properly expressed through emotion. This is a collection of that type of art. In fact, this book brims with fabulous and arresting artwork.Travis Louie's creatures are grotesque and touching which stir feelings that cause irreconcilable differences between the heart and mind. Audrey Kawasaki creates nubile nymphs that are both arousing and heartrendingly melancholy. Jason D'Aquino's ingenious use of found media boggles the mind, not to mention his dexterity with a pencil. And there are plenty more fine artists to discover and ogle. The physical book reminds me of a high school or university textbook; it's heavy and well-bound (stitched, not glued) with high quality lightly glossy pages. I enjoyed the various articles and interviews which offered glimpses into each of the artists' minds and workflow. A couple of things which bear mentioning, however, are that the articles needed another round of editing and the artwork should have been properly titled.A few grammatical errors here and there are negligible, but this book contained more than a few. Also, the articles would discuss specific works and I couldn't help wondering if those works were actually the ones on display or not at all because only some of the artwork is given proper titling. There isn't even an appendix or figure table at the end. If you wish to learn the titles, you'd need to track down the artists' websites/galleries and cross-reference.Even with these detriments, this is a wonderful trove of art and inspiration. I went in knowing it featured a couple of my favourite artists, but I finished reading with a far longer list than I started with.

Great review of those past issues picking out some of the shinier articles and collections from the past issues. A fun look through/read and I find myself on occassion going back through it, also a great edition if you don't like waiting for the quarterly issues, sure it's trimmed down, obviously, but it's alot of art all at once as well. Great coffee table book and the book construction is of the highest quality like you would come to expect if you subscribe to hi-fructose. I subscribe to the magazine but get theses editions as they come out anyway, I like to make these books the public use in my home and keep the magazines less used.

Bought it for my Niece, who is an artist, and she LOVED it!! I actually browsed through it first and i really liked the pictures and artist's in there. I wouldn't mind having my own too, for the coffee table.

Beautiful artwork presented in a beautiful way. I love having this book on my shelf. Even tho I have read and looked at all of the images numerous times already, I still take it down to peruse again and again.

I have completed my collection on the Hi-Frustose compilation books with the purchase of this one. Just got the third one about a week ago in a box set. I know even though I haven't received this second one yet that I will absolutely love it just like the others. I highly recommend them. There were only 2,500 of the box sets made for the third book, so I suggest if you love them to snatch one up pretty quick! It was worth it... Wish I could have gotten the first and second ones in a box set. Interesting and beautiful artwork!

I declare a total fan of Hi-Fructose. This book has wonderful drawings, especially those of female creatures that love me so much. Beautiful cover, good articles, a treasure trove for art lovers. I need only Volume 3 to complete my collection. !!!Esta BRUTAL!!!

This beautiful book full of amazing art was shipped to me in a very quick and timely manner and was in perfect condition. I very much enjoy that it contains a myriad of my very favorite artists featured in this book. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to enjoy and be inspired by contemporary art.

I put this collection on my wish list because I love Audrey Kawasaki. I received it for Christmas and was blown away! I had no idea it was a large hard bound book. And, even better, there are so many incredible artists in this book! There are interviews and articles written for many of the artists. If you're into the low-brow/pop-surrealism art movement in away way, you need to get this book! I have just added volume 1 to my wish list.
