I am now pretty familiar with Broderick's designs, since this is my fourth book of his collection.I must say that his illustrations are really pretty and very detailed. I love his ideas and I love how a "simple" concept can be transformed into a SURREAL AND MAGICAL moment!I went through different thematics of his: spacing from butterflies, to mantras, animals, buddhism and now IMAGINATION. Not one time did the images disappoint me!!! The only thing I happened not to like had actually nothing to do with his design, but with the layout... whoever put his pictures together and made a book of it, did sometimes make some mistakes.But this book, is REALLY AWESOME.If you like stories and fairy tales, than this book is for you!!! Each single image will bring you to a fantasy world, where you are a pirate or lost in an imaginary world... some images remind me of stories of my childhood (and I am sure some of these stories must have inspired him too).I am a graphic designer, and as an artist I like to color with different techniques, mostly by hand, with colored pencils, markers, watercolors.. and sometimes even on the computer directly. It relaxes me and helps my imagination.All of his creations are pure fantasy and pure inspiration! An excellent book that will help you dream and fly away to a different dimension, where everything is pure and simple and innocent! Perfect to escape from our harsh reality.I received a PDF version for testing purposes, and I think that $3.99 for the paperback version is a really, really good price. My version though, has a different book cover... which is beautiful too, just totally different from the one advertised here on (which is a bit sad and macabre almost).
I can't get over this coloring book. I'm a big fan of the adult coloring book trend, I own well over a dozen books, and I've never seen such magnificent artwork. I'm itching to print & color this book, again and again. Please note that I got the kindle version at a discount in exchange for my honest & unbiased review, but this book is well worth the price for the hard copy, which I will be purchasing as well. I like being able to print out pages at my leisure, but I still prefer a professionally printed copy when it comes to coloring, so I will be buying a hard copy of this book ASAP. I hope the fact that my review here is so positive & glowing doesn't make it seem biased or fake, but I have no affiliation with the artist or with . I'm just legitimately thrilled with this book. Anyway, back to the book. The drawings are kind of like Salvador Dali meets Dr. Suess, but even that comparison doesn't do it justice. I was so intrigued by the "idea garden" cover art (which I was momentarily sad to see was not actually included to color inside the book), that I just had to check this book out. It does NOT disappoint. Each and every page in this book is like its very own illustrated dream world. My favorite being the winding staircase that holds a miniature village upon its hillside-like steps. Sounds magical? BECAUSE IT IS. Details abound with this book, so be sure to expertly sharpen your colored pencils or break out the ultra-fine tip markers. I only wish I could give more than 5 stars here, seriously.One annoying thing you'll find is that the blank pages between each coloring page were INCLUDED in the Kindle/PDF copy, which is silly.
