This is a book about harassment and terrorizing a caring parent volunteer by another parent over a misunderstanding regarding their child's after school care. This is happening in one of the safest communities in nation. You see Very unexpected and surprising reaction from highly educated Couple. When I started the book I couldn't stop reading. The story telling is very strong and you can clearly understand the sequence of the events, connect with the characters and feel the frustration and unease the victim went through. It is a great read and I totally recommend it.I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I admit that I must be the only person over fetus-hood who had never heard the story of Orange County housewife/school volunteer Mom Kelli Peters and the long, long ordeal she and her family went through at the hands of Kent and Jill Easter. Kelli Peters writes about it - helped along by "Sam Rule" - in her book, "I'll Get You!".Kelli Peters was an all-star volunteer at her daughter's after school program. After a strange run-in with another mother, Jill Easter, at the school, Easter spent 6 months or so trying to get back at Peters. According to the book, no one quite knew what exactly had set Easter off and Peters was defended by her school principal and management. About a year after the initial incident, the cops were called to the school parking lot because a phone caller had said there were drugs in Kelli Peters' car. Thus began Kelli, her husband, and her daughter's descent into a Twilight Zone few years. Eventually, the Easters were tried both criminally and civilly. The only problem with the book is that we only get one side of the story - though, truthfully, I can't really see the Easters defending themselves - and Sam Rule has to work with what he has. The writing is typically rah-rah as is common in these true-life books and as long as the reader knows they're not getting Dostoevsky here, I think the book is a good read. However, I'd also like to read a book that looks at both sides. I actually first read about the case recently in a series of articles in the LATimes.
I just finished reading Kelli Peters' book about this whole nightmare. And nightmare is what describes what this poor woman and her family had to endure. The book goes into much more detail than what is in any interview, so I recommend you read it.In fact, I'm recommending her book to everyone I know, since all the proceeds go to Kelli and her family. The award of millions to them doesn't mean a thing since they will likely see very little, if any, of that money. It's not fair what Jill and Kent Easter did to these innocent people. Worst is that knowing that this could happen to anyone.Jill and her loser husband should have been sentenced to more jail time for the torture they put the Peters' family through.Kelli, if you ever read this, know that I'm now an advocate for you and your sweet family. I will tell everyone I know to buy a copy of your book to help in any way I can.Take care and know there are millions of people who support you :)(By the way, I watched you on Dr. Phil. That's where I heard about your book and couldn't wait to read the whole story. I'm so happy for you that he mentioned it so that the millions of his viewers could read all about what happened. Your hope that he would get the word out about your book worked. Woo-hoo!!!! You and your family deserve every penny of the proceeds. Buying a copy is the least I could do, and I'm sure I'm not the only one that wishes I could do more.)~Jen
This book was very well written and hopefully she will receive some of the judgment money her and her family so richly deserves. The author keeps the readers full attention from the first page to the last page.
I've heard about this case in the news several times, and always wondered about the whole story. There had to be more to it- why would Jill & Kent Easter go to such lengths to plant drugs, frame, stalk, and harass a school volunteer who was completely blameless?! Up until now, the media never gave satisfying answers. My curiosity led me to pick up this book, and then I couldn't put it down. It's a chilling account of the story that has received national media attention, and has gotten so many people talking. Finally we hear the whole story from the victims point of view. Kelli Peters is a well-liked Irvine, CA mom, housewife and PTA president who spent most of her free time volunteering at her daughter's elementary school. Her account of the evil that was unleashed on her was hard to read as I realized that it could just as easily have been me who was targeted by someone like the crazy Jill Easter. As I read, I had to remind myself that this wasn't fiction. The truth is certainly stranger in this case. Kelli's voice came through sincerity and heartbreaking transparency as she told her story and described the devastating effects to her family. A chapter written by daughter Sydnie will break any parent's heart. The relentless harassment and hatefulness leads Kelli on a journey to discover strength and find trust in a world turned sideways. How refreshing to read a story where the cops and legal system are heroes! It's an empowering must-read for anyone dealing with a tough situation. Give this book to someone you love. And then, as Kelli advises, "go hug your kids".
