I got this book after getting a tip about it from another trumpet playing friend of mine. He uses it with his students.. and now I use it with mine. The selections are perfect for someone who's been playing for a little while and is looking for some great material to play with their piano playing friends. Many of the pieces in here could be used for school band instrumental competitions. They might require a bit of work to master... but they are all possible with practice. Perfect for backround music for formal occasions as well... weddings, formal parties, etc.
We were happy to discover this book via the RCMT/Carnegie Hall Achievement Program's Brass Syllabus. There are some excellent pieces here. There is a smaller pull out book with just the trumpet scores so there's no need to photocopy or buy a second book for your accompanist. My child will be using at least one of these for his grade 4 exam, but is going to learn a number of these.
These solos are great for an intermediate player.
Other than the annoying announcer before each title on the CD, this is a very well written book, with a lot of helpful background information on each piece.
