What can I say? I failed to find a single monologue I liked in this book.
This book contains mostly monologues for British characters and may not be suitable for American performers, except those seeking the challenge of text written for voices from across the pond.
I used some of these pieces in a women's retreat.Well thought-out, well organized.Provocative. That's what we want!
I've been studying acting for about 15 years now and this has been the most well compiled book of monologues for women that I've come across. Each piece is followed by commentary by the editors which was incredibly helpful whenever I felt stuck. Theres also a great variety in pieces. I've never been a fan of monologues that relay information or speak in past tense and this book has plenty of monologues that are active to another person. I would definitely recommend this series.
