George Washington: First Guardian Of American Liberty
Ebooks To Download

Who was George Washington? You probably know him as the first president of the United States, the commander of the Continental army who led American farmers and innkeepers in a victorious eight-year war against the British. But where did he get his military experience? Why was picked to take command of the army? Why was he the only American president ever to be elected unanimously (twice!), and did he really chop down that cherry tree as a kid?In this book entitled George Washington: First Guardian of American Liberty by author Michael Crawley, you'll follow the course of George Washington's life, from his birth at Ferry Farm in Virginia in 1732, to his death at his Mount Vernon estate in 1799. You'll learn how his early fame as a hero of the French and Indian War, and his illustrious marriage to a wealthy widow, led to this farm boy becoming one of the most important men in Virginia, a delegate at the Continental Congress where the Founders of America gathered to decide the nation's fate. The first guardian of American liberty looks serene in his portraits, but he didn't always rise above the fray. Washington fought for what he believed in, and his political convictions shocked contemporaries like Thomas Jefferson. Do you know what kind of country George Washington wanted America to be?

George Washington is a book for those people who want to know about a person who is self-maid faced many difficulties to cope up with his family & professional life. The book not only depicts about the life story of George Washington but also illuminates the 18th century history. It will be proved very fruitful for us to be a hero & make the most of our life on earth as George Washington did…cheerful Reading.

This is my first biography of George Washington, and it reads very well, with a lot of personal and historical insight. I imagined reading this story out loud to a middle school or High School History class with very good results. This is the kind of material that can really bring history to life without forcing the reader to get dragged into too much scholarly speculation or endless questioning.I found that while the author's introduction suggested it would be a somewhat critical view of Mr. Washington, I found the facts to speak quite honestly enough for him, showing how he personally dealt with the fact that he owned slaves while he was leading one of the most unique revolutions for freedom that the world has ever seen. The author points out numerous times that the virtues and the resulting accomplishments of Mr. Washington were nearly as mythical as history claims, a rarity among epic figures of history. It's also pretty clear from the people and the realities of that time, that we would most likely not have had a United States if slavery had been put on the table first before, bringing the union together first, with all of its myriad complexities and unprecedented risks. The history makes it very clear and it should be stressed where ever American history is taught: it was not possible to deal with both issues simultaneously; and to the nation's credit, (and through the purer virtues of that other later President), it really wasn't that long into our history (four score and seven years) until we finally faced it and dealt with it decisively.

Such an impressive and interesting book to read! I enjoyed reading and seeing a side to an important founding father that I had not really known much about in the past. Yes, in school way back when, I would have found this more interesting and helpful than the trash we were given to read in our history books. I would say, read it. It gives you a lot, let's you ask questions about history in a good way. Worth reading!

Reading this book, I admired George Washington more than I already have. This book tells a different side of him that most people of this generation are not aware of and it was written very well. He's one admirable and aspiring man and the more I read about him, the more he inspires me to follow and fight for my convictions. Kudos to Michael Crawley for writing such an inspiring book. This was definitely an awesome read.

Great write-up about George Washington.I never really took interest in the life of George Washington, but I do know of his achievements. This book has saved me a whole ton of research as I find the information here accurate and useful.I commend the author's effort for a well written book

George Washington is man I always enjoy reading about, this was a well written book, I had quality time going through this awesome piece of history on George Washington. This actually entails everything there is to know about the life of this great man and if you are like me who has great interest in Washington's stories then I suggest to get a copy of this book.

I have always been a history buff, but usually I read up on ancient history. I've never read up on monarchs or presidents but suddenly felt this need to read up on American presidents. Perhaps it being election year has something to do with it.Having never known anything about George Washington, (I am not American so, I have that excuse. LOL) I am now profoundly in awe of his character and have a deep respect for America's first president. This book is not an autobiography. It doesn't really go into detail of George Washington's life. Instead, it is a really good stepping stone for people like me who are just taking their first peek into who George Washington is.I like the author's writing style. It did NOT read like an old, boring, history textbook. Instead, it was engaging and had me flipping the pages until I realized there weren't any more pages to flip. Dang!

A good perspective on the nations early years and Washington's relationship with the British. This relationship and his years involved with British - Colonial campaigns gave him tremendous military insights that prepared him to lead the American Revolution. The book looks at Washington as a person and how he was key in shaping the new republic after the war. An excellent book that will give you a deeper appreciation for his greatness and a deeper perspective on why our government works the way it does today.
