This book is good and aptly titled. If you have little knowledge of the VC world this is a good start. What it did not do was to point out the real truth about what happens in most deals, that being Redemption Privilege, 2 and 3x liquidation preference and worst of all the ugly fact of calling around to the other VC's and joining up as co-investors to eliminate competitive term sheets. (That might be my book :))
I'm new to the world of venture capital but needed a quick inversion due to changes in my professional life. I cannot recommend more this little piece to get an overall picture of this exciting world; and the price for quality is unbeatable!
I am a startup consultant. I work with venture investors and entrepreneurs. This is an excellent introduction to the VC scene -- not deeply sophisticated but very clear and understandable useful content for someone looking for basic information and a bit of wise advice.
Got this book because of its inexpensive price tag. Once I started reading it, I was very impressed at the amount of knowledge and tips Mr. Snow presents to the readers. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants a quick overview of the VC industry.
Having consulted for Private Equity, I had a fair understanding of the Venture Cap market. Still Bill Snow was able to add insight and understanding through this easy to ready introduction to VC. It's not as detailed as similar books, but it's fictional examples helps the read better understand concepts that might otherwise be hard to grasp.
I read a version of Mr. Snow's article several years ago. It is a down to earth and pragmatic walk through for raising capital. It definitely helps decipher the concepts and terms in world of angel/VC fund raising. This is a bargain price, plus a great stepping stone to other material, and great prep work prior to engaging the an attorney.Hope this helps!David.
This e-book was an excellent beginners introduction to the concept of Venture Capital. Definitely not an in depth analysis but it doesn't claim to be. If you have only heard of venture capital and haven't had any experience with it, this is the ideal first book to read. Definitely recommend it.
The book was very informative for a first read but not well written, I would to read more to understand about venture capitalism.
