Romanesque Bible Illumination
Ebooks To Download

Other than religious architecture and the sculpture that was part of it, the illuminated Bible was the major artistic form in the West during the eleventh and twelfth centuries. Oddly enough, the Bibles have received little critical attention, even though a large number of beautifully illustrated ones have survived the ages. This lavish and authoritative book is the first to survey the art of the Romanesque illuminated Bible and to describe its development. Anyone with an interest in medieval or religious art will want to own this splendid book.

What a great book! Mr. Cahn's text is easy to understand and comprehensive. The artwork is beautifully reproduced, often on full pages, with colors appearing to be faithful to the original works. This is the best book on the subject that I personally have ever come across, and I highly recommend it to the Romanesque Art enthusiast or illuminator.
