Ebooks To Download

Rejected by her mother and excluded by her school, Flip is a little girl desperate to be loved.‘Am I ugly, Mummy?’ are the first words that little Phillipa says to Mike and Casey as she stomps into their lives on a hot August afternoon. She has a Barbie doll in one hand and a pink vanity case in the other and the bemused Watsons can only stare in amazement at this tiny eight year old girl who is being guided into the room by her social worker.Phillipa, known as Flip has Foetal Alcohol Syndrome and life with her single mother has come to an abrupt end after a fire burned the house down. When Casey meets Flip, the child seems remarkably unfazed by what has happened and the thing that seems to worry her is that Casey might find her ugly.Casey has come across children with FAS in her previous job in a high school behaviour unit, but is now realising that fostering Flip is going to be full of challenges which will test her and Mike’s skills to the limit.

This is a good Casey Watson memoir. I enjoyed reading it, and it is written in CW's typical casual style re: language and events. Her descriptions can be humorous in the midst of a serious and emotional situation. The family members from previous books are present and well-depicted, and also some new 'characters'. Tyler, the foster child from the last book, learned to accept Flip almost too easily.I would have liked to know more about his adjustment to long-term care- he was a little hooligan in the last book, but a dear soul. I just think he would not be so compliant and affectionate to this new child. I do not find the title was all that relevant to 'Flip's' case. She did have a problem with her appearance but this seemed not to affect her as much as the title would imply. As well, FAS can be very serious as is ADHD, both of which this little girl suffers from. I felt Casey glossed over just how affected a child would be.Somehow I did not connect with Flip; she was just not too likable- this had nothing to do with her problems. I'm not sure if it was the writing or the actual child or why I did not feel the way I do about most kids in fostering memoirs.I felt the ending was rushed with the best possible outcome for all. Not the best of CW, but certainly worth a read.

I have read everyone of Casey's books. This book in particular, was one of her best. She is an excellent author in that she actually makes you feel like you're part of her family. She is also one of the best carers of foster children. Her expertise, empathy, and technique I remarkable. She and her husband, Mike, make a truly admirable team. I can't wait for her next book.

I've read and re-read this book several times - Flip is so engaging, even in writing. Her struggles with her looks is honest and raw, and the way she approaches life can be both amusing and heartbreaking.

The latest offering from this author doesn't disappoint. Easy to read, it was over too soon leaving me craving for more. I love the author's " down to earth" writing style and attitude, it stops her work being melodramatic or sensationalist.

I LOVE Casey Watson books and this one did not disappoint.

I have read several books by Casey Watson. She is amazing person and author. Casey and her husband Mike are foster carers of difficult children. They foster the "unlovable". They find a way to break thru their walls and show they what love is and how someone should be treated. You will love all her books.

I love Casey Watson's books. Even though the content is heartbreaking, they are written really well. I found Skin Deep just as engaging as her other books. I'm always waiting for the next book!

I absolutely love everything written by Casey Watson! This was no exception! I can't wait for her next book!
