My four year old loved the pictures. She's really getting into the whole helping idea right now so she was surprised anyone would not want to help. However, I'm sure I will need to read this again to her in the near future. It's such a fun way to talk about helping without lecturing. I also loved the illustrations.
My 6 year old is at the independent stage; she prefers to sometimes hang out on her own or with her friends uninterrupted. Any little errand I gives her comes with a silent disgruntle.I saw a lightbulb light up as I dramatically read to her this book at bedtime.She's enthused!A refreshing read - for both mum and kiddo.Aidah.
Otto the Grouchy Owl is another entry by this team- still more great pictures though now I see the illustrator is given great credit on the cover, which I think is a first. As usual the pictures are great as is the moral of the story.This one isn't quite as long as some of the books the Wu's have put out, so it is especially well suited to younger children. Though my seven year old still loved it. It is a great story plus owls are one of his favorite animals!
I got this book after seeing it on the Kindle Buffett list. We already have several books by Michael Yu so we were familiar with the author. This book has great graphics but the story line was lost on my toddler. I will keep it to read again when she is older.
I LOVE Michael Yu's books and this book assured me of that! Otto the Grouchy Owl is probably needed now more than ever in this age of NOW, and we thought Veruca Salt was bad! The pictures are marvelous, and the characters are lovely. I really think the book had it all, I could not recommend a single thing to the author even if asked. Mr Yu is the King of the Feel Good book and this book is no different, you'll feel warm all over like on Christmas morning!
Just finished reading it for the fourth time today to my 4 year old granddaughter. She absolutely loved it, especially the illustrations! It tells a good story and teaches a wonderful lesson. Will definitely purchase more stories from this author.
I liked this book better than my grandkids did. After reading several times they are now asking for it so it is growing on them. I teaches a good lesson about helping and how much better you will feel if you are not so grouchy.
My son loved the book.And is begging for another.It great in which it teaches life lessons and morals.Simply great.thank you.
