This is the same brand of booklet I used in middle school to learn alto sax in the school band. I figured since it was so easy that I should use to to now learn flute as an adult to teach myself. This book is very easy to learn any instrument with. It incorporates all music theory elements and stuff like that. It's easy yet challenging enough at the same time to help you learn more techniques.
My daughter's wind ensemble class required Standard of Excellence book for class. We decided to buy this enhanced edition because it came with the CDs and honestly was still less expensive than buying it at our local music store. My daughter said this book is easy to understand and that she likes having the CDs to listen to...it helps her hearing the timing of some of the pieces when she is practicing at home on her own. Her class only has music half the week so a lot of time she's working with this book on her own and it's been a great tool for her.
This is the book my daughter needed for her flute for beginning band. She really likes it and often brings it home for practice. We missed the band night at school, and we live in a small town with no music store, so I was really happy to be able to find this book on .
I didn't buy this item from , I've actually had this book since 1998, when I started learning the flute in elementary school. Recently, six years after my last high school band class, I found my flute and this book and decided to break it pen and see if I still knew how to read sheet music. First let me say that this book was essential when I was learning initially. Now, 17 years later this book has been my constant to refresh my memory and I have nothing but good things to say and I plan to order book 2 of this series asap once iI've completely worked my way through the exercises in this one! Highly recommend.
I learned to play the flute from these books 20+ years ago. I am teaching my youngest to play using this book and it she now almost finished and can play the basics quite well. I have now taken on another friend's kid as a student who will also learn using this book. As long as they practice, and with a little guidance, this book will teach them what they need to know to beging playing the flute.
Perfect my daughter starting to learn flute. It has a sturdy enough cover to withstand the beating in the backpack with all her other stuff.

My daughter needed this for school, fast shipping and we got it in time for her first day. It was hard to find in our area, even the local music shop had to special order it. So I just decided to get it here.
