My well worn Peters edition of Brahms Op. 122 disappeared and I needed a replacement quickly. Since the Peters ed. was unavailable I took a chance on this one. The printed music is very clear but a bit smaller than the Peters edition. The upside is fewer page turns. No. 3 (O Welt) neatly fits on two facing pages with no turn. On the other hand, no. 8 (Es ist ein Ros') looks just a bit cramped fitted to one page while E.Power Biggs' alternate arrangement of it (3 staves to include a pedal part) received a more generous spacing. EPB provided these "alternate" versions for nos. 5, 6, 7 and 8. After several decades of using the Peters edition I can't say that I am warming to the alternate versions but they might be of interest to someone just beginning to explore these gems or someone wishing to try a new perspective. Each prelude is preceded by the chorale harmonization upon which Brahms based his preludes. Text is included with the chorales in German and English. Overall I am very pleased with this edition, knocking one star off for some of the cramped spacing. It is still very clear and legible.
