Contains lovely selections for Middle School and early High School voice students, though the songs work well for more advanced students, too. Johnny Has Gone for a Soldier, Shenandoah, and The Water Is Wide are often sung, but my favorite from this book is I Know Where I'm Going. The Cd is a wonderful tool for students to learn notes and rhythms at home. The piano accompaniments are manageable. I highly recommend this book.
I accompanied someone as they sang "Shennendoah." The timing for the singer was a little different than we both expected, but it worked out fine. The arrangements are simplified.
This book has a fairly nice selection of folksongs with appealing accompaniments. The texts are generally more suitable for older teenagers.
