This was one of of three books I got for my 6th grader in the beginning band. This one is the least over her head as it is for levels 2 and 3, but it is not her favorite. It got 4 stars simply because it is not her favorite. However as a mother I am happy to see the "how to" in the back. There is a chart that shows how to play the notes for the flute. That alone will help her tremendously.
Wanted some "new" songs to play for worship. Great selection. I am a intermediate player but these selections were easy to pick up on. Thank you.
I use this book and CD all the time in church. I was delighted to hear that the CD was made with REAL instruments, NOT MIDI!
We could get away with using this with a piano accompanist inchurch, but not with this CD.The CD is "too rocky" for our traditional fundamental church.We were looking for solos to use when our accompanist is absent.
This book is full of such fun songs that aren't to difficult to play. I would say for a 2nd-3rd year player (flute) it should be a piece of cake. However some of the songs require the other instrumental parts because the flute, and probably the piano and clarinet parts, do not always have the melody. Great overall though! Came quickly too!
I was worried my order might not arrive before I left for overseas and Alfred publishing staff replied to every e-mail I sent and I received my order even faster than anticipated! They were top notch and a worthy 5 Star rating!
My daughter has been enjoying using this book to practice her flute - my hope is to see her play with the worship team at church now and then.
I was very disappointed with this purchase. It's definitely very contemporary, or "rocky" as one review put it. Not my taste at all, nor of the members in the church I attend. It's also very simple, good for a beginner I guess, but boring otherwise. I won't be getting much use out of it. I wish I could return it.
