This book is written to make the richness of the old hymns more accessible. The CD alone is worth the purchase. They mix solos and chorus so you can hear the words but still get the traditional feel. This works really well.
I recommend this series for anyone who loves the old hymns and wants to know about their backgrounds and composers. They increase your precision for te words and Bible verses used or referenced.
