I've played some of Cindy Berry's arrangements before, and bought the "What Can I Play on Sunday?" collection for January and February. The songs were PERFECT for our services and our reverend was so impressed at the "time and effort I put into selecting songs for the services." I didn't tell him the work had already been done for me. :) I looked into buying the March/April book and found this one for the entire year, which saved me a lot of money. Well worth the purchase! For reference, I am a late intermediate/early advanced player, and can some of these sight-reading, and most with a little practice (less than an hour).

I have never, ever bought a sacred piano book and played through literally every song start to finish! Usually there are a few I get bored with or give up on, but every one of these works. By which I mean they're playable, the chords make sense, and they're of a good length for service music. I'd say most are sight-readable for an intermediate-to-advanced player, and even better, the vast majority could easily be adapted for organ. That said, playing through the entire book reveals some abrupt endings and repetitive patterns (2nd time through, give the melody to the left hand!), but obviously one wouldn't perform all 60 pieces in one service. And there seem to be quite a few slow, quiet ones that build toward the end. I would like a few more "preludey" ones with impressive openings, but with so much serviceable music in one book it's hard to complain. I appreciate that these are not concert-style show-off pieces, because while those have their place, I generally reserve them for special occasions rather than service music. For anyone wondering, this is sold as a single book, not a package of 6 separate books, which is handy. The comb binding makes it easy to lay flat. The fact that it's grouped by months is a nice perk.

These pieces are arranged according to needs of each month of the year. They aren't long which is nice. If you are an adequate pianist, you will not need a lot of practice to work these up. They sound difficult without the effort. I can't say enoughabout how much I love these.

This book is just my style. Good for intermediate level. I like that I can sit and play through with little practice and the songs don't get complicated at the end. Every song is very playable and usable at church.

Cindy does it again. I have enjoyed other Cindi Berry arrangements, and now I have this huge collection of hymn arrangements that are perfect for my ability level. If you like playing interesting and beautiful hymn arrangements, get this book!

Purchased this book for preludes/postludes in church, but I think they are a bit too bombastic for that purpose. Others have complained about excessive octaves, and I agree. It's not an issue of technique (I have no trouble with octaves), but I think stylistically they aren't great for prelude music. The arrangements themselves are okay, if a bit formulaic. IMO the pieces are too bold/ambitious for preludes and too long for offertories, so I'm not sure how I'm going to incorporate these in to the service. We'll see.

Absolutely love this book! Six books in one makes this a great deal. But, far beyond that, I love the songs!! Cindy Berry has always been a favorite, and this book does not disappoint. I often receive positive feedback when I play from this book, but it takes minimal practice (I would say that I am a late intermediate/early advanced pianist with practice.) Often I have little time for practice, so this has become one of my go-to books. The arrangements make the songs seem more difficult than they are. So glad to have this book!

A great collection of traditional hymn arrangements by Cindy Berry. They are not difficult to play, although they sound rich and full. A traditional congregation will really enjoy hearing the hymns of their youth in these powerful arrangements.
