I used Standard of Excellence to learn clarinet the first time around and going back to these books after years was great! I wanted something to practice technique with and this book provides a simple way to do that. For parts with duets, I recommend using a metronome and recording yourself playing the lower part so that you can practice the higher part in a fun way. Just a great method book.
This is the book that was required for my daughter to have in the eighth grade band. She has a great teacher so if this is the book he chose, then I know it's a great book!
