I love the Rubank Flute Series and this book, like all others in the Flute Series is an excellent and comprehensive presentation of playing flute. I think the Rubank series is ideal for class as well as individual instruction. I like the way the Rubank books are geared toward serious practice and playing with the idea of developing strong flute skills.
I played flute 20+ years ago and recently decided to try playing it again. I bought the Beginner Method and now am working through the Intermediate Method. The lessons are easy to follow and progress in a logical way. I highly recommend this series of books for anyone who wants to learn the flute.
I ordered the intermediate, advanced, and elementary books at the same time. They were a great find. I picked my flute up again as a serious hobbyist 2 years ago. This has improved my accuracy, speed, and tone quality. You won't regret this purchase.

This book that has been around for quite a while is a solid, standard place to take flute students who have mastered the basics and need a little more challenge as intermediate players.The approach with this book is classical. It is nice to use in connection with other approaches such as jazz methods.
Very insightful, great lessons. Has improved my flute playing by a thousand miles! It includes a trill fingering chart and everything!!
I remember using these many years ago in junior HS while learning the flute. As I'm getting back into it these made sense again. Highly recommended as a follow-on to the Elementary method.
