If you're looking at this book, Music Fan Jeff's "A Handy Reference for Chart Hounds Like Myself" (6/16/2003) about the 1955-2001 edition covers this book, too. I still have this volume, 1955-1992, as the former companion to Whitburn's Pop Lp 1955-92 chart book proper, which I've since upgraded. This songs on Lp cross-reference still serves me well, and for the moment I don't have a reason to move up to the newer edition, due to, frankly, not much of my interest in running down the post-vinyl Lp tracks of "Wichita Lineman," "MacArthur's Park," and whatever '60s-'80s pop songs might show up on CD. Actually, the exclusion of deeply buried CD album cuts might well be a reason to prefer this book, which largely ends at the end of the vinyl era; in that way it provides a useful foil to the tyranny of too much choice. (Do you really need to find yet another 40-50 CD filler tracks of "MacArthur Park," "My Way," "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head," "Yesterday," or "Oh, What a Wonderful World" cluttering up the song listings?)
