This book is packed with information, but is geared more towards the intermediate painter. As a beginner, I found the first few pages helpful, i.e., brushes, supplies, types of paints, etc., but the author relies heavily on skills she thinks you should already have. I will probably use this book as I gain more experience.
Lots of pretty pictures. But most of them have next to no instructions about how to paint them, just a general description of what techniques she used; she does not even always tell you what colors she used. Certainly not "step-by-step." Now that I look at the cover, I see that the title of the book is simply "Painting with Acrylics." The words "step-by-step" are in an oval on the bottom. It is the title of a series, not of the book: "Step-by-Step Leisure Arts." Very misleading. But what can you expect for $4.86 (plus shipping)?
I'm just starting out in acrylics and have bought several books to try to get me pointed in the right way. I am looking for something that is more step by step informative and this definitely is not the one. I'm starting to think there are no books for beginning acrylic painters.
I was expecting a little more; maybe I didn't research this enough or maybe there's a section that show the number of pages in a book that I over-looked but this is a booklet. No reflection on the seller.
It was very informative. Showed lots of sample pictures. Probably not for someone without any experience. I liked it. Great!
