I bought this particular book at a local museum, and even with the hefty price markup, it was worth it. Detailed enough to entertain us all, but not so detailed that my 6 yr old can't do it. It's actually a great help for dexterity.I thought my teenage son was on his computer, and he comes downstairs and shows me this lovely picture he colored! It's hard to get kids away from the computer and video games these days, but this did the trick for my boys. I'm actually back on to pick up some more books and giant box of markers (Crayola 64 Ct Washable Markers) to use on our upcoming road trip! Also, not sure if this is mentioned, but there are actually two copies of every picture, one with numbers and one without. So, once you get an idea of what the picture is, you can redo it in a different scheme.
This is a fun, quiet activity. Some of the coloring areas are tiny, so you'll need sharp, colored pencils. Some of the colors are quite specific (magenta), so you'll need the large pack of pencils. Make sure the pencils have the color names. I don't know if fine-tipped markers will bleed through. If your child loves coloring, they'll like this product. Also, there are plenty of color-by-number pages AND pages for your child to be creative with their own color choices.
I purchased this for our 4 1/2 year old son. He spends 3-4 hours/day working on this coloring book. My husband I have even been coloring in it. Heck, I had a playdate, and the moms were coloring in it! Really a cool book, beautiful illustrations!
I love this book. Color-by-numbers are so hard to find that are somewhat difficult. The pictures are so beautiful and great for children or adults. The only problem is the paper, Markers bleed through. I use Pic Mark It pens and have to tear out the pages before I color them. My 12-year-old cousin spent 3 hours working on a picture and was so proud of himself and he usualy hates coloring but these books pulled him in. I have now bought the whole set for his birthday.
We ended up purchasing 3 different coloring books for family time. It's amazing what happens when you shut off TVs and computers, we reconnect. We really do notice a difference with our two kids, their ages are 7 & 8. Theses are great for family night, rainy days and traveling.
This coloring book is relaxing and fun to color "by number." I'm stressed out and I don't want to have to decide the color schemes some days.
I purchased this color book for my classroom students to use when they finished all their work. My 8th and 9th graders love this coloring book. The book has two sets of each picture, one with number in the spaces and key telling you what to color each number, and one without the numbers. The drawings are very intricate and are best colored using sharp color pencils. Often times you cannot tell what the picture is until you have finished coloring it, adding an air of mystery to the fun. This is a great coloring book for anyone who loves to color but doesn't want to be stuck coloring Disney pictures.
The pictures are awesome and very detailed. I do have to sit with her to work on this as it is a bit of a challenge for my differently able 10 yr old daughter. But she is very proud of the results she gets. Make sure you use sharp color pencils as some of the sections are very small. But I would recommend this product and it's quality.
