I received this book quickly...I had just started banjo lessons and have been using this for about 3 months. The teaching is clear and a CD is also included so that you can listen to and learn correct timing. Very pleased with this product.
This is the best instruction book/CD I have seen for bluegrass banjo. There are several good ones, but this brings it all together. The text is very well written and full of practical and valuable hints from Alan's long experince teaching and performing. I find it very easy to follow. The order in which he presents the material and the rich variety of useful examples are especially notable.
A great book by one of the masters of bluegrass banjo. Alan does a terrific job of explaining how melodies are integrated with roll patterns. This book, along with the Scruggs book, would make an excellent introduction to the musical style of bluegrass banjo.
