I got a Banjo one month ago. I am completely music illiterate. I purchased 5 books/ CD/ DVD. I like this book and Tony Trichka's Banjo for Beginners book/ DVD. Great book for total beginners. Easy to follow.
I started using this having never played the banjo today. The book is great and easy to understand. Having never played an instrument, I watched each lesson on the DVD several times and would pause it until I could get the example and practices. Very helpful instructor! After just the first few lessons I started to pick it up. Would definitely recommend for beginners.
This is an excellen tbook/CD/DVD combo. I HIGHLY recommend it! I am a complete beginner on banjo and this set is the perfect starter for me: great pace (not too fast, not too slow), easy wins (I could play a song within an hour, and it actually sounded good!), and excellent instruction throughout. I also enjoy and appreciate the instructors choice of songs to learn--progressively more difficult with some banjo standards. Note: This is the first book in a series of two. Excellent beginners' book. Instructions are clearly written and the lessons are short enough to leave the learner with a sense of accomplishment. Covers a broad range of techniques.
good product but it a took for ever to get the product, i ordered almost a month before christmas and it was a gift for my daugther and it did'n't arrived till after christmas, you lost points in my book
It would be all but impossible to put that many pages of sheet music in a book that is only 48 pages AND include a guide to the basics of learning to play the banjo.
The accompanying DVD will not play on my computer, only on my DVD player., which is not convenient for me. The book is fine.
