This is a beginner book, the notes and rhythms are a perfect starting point for each song. I am an advanced cellist who purchased this to play music my toddler knows and loves ie. "Winnie the Pooh." I have written in double stops, pick up notes and made other alterations to several songs just to give them more. That in itself is a great exercise for any advancing cellist and i reccommend it. I enjoy this book and think its something any mother cellist should add to her collection, the kids find it really fun when you can bust out their favorite disney tune.
This was a present for my niece (who plays the cello and is a huge Disney fan).She was really happy with the gift. She's been playing for a couple of years - and this wasn't too difficult for her ( a stretch - but not an impossible one)
Thanks to other reviewers ... helping me decide to buy this book. My daughter loves it and best of all she practices cello on her own! the only thing I wish: spiral binder for easier to place flat and stay better on music stand.
This is a really well written book for students or those that just want to read through these tunes. Lines are spaced out enough to jot down notes/comments. Paper is thick, printing is large and easy to read. Would highly recommend!
I have had the book for a week now. I am a beginning cello student (about 18 months of cello lessons). Some pieces are pretty easy and others a little more challenging. I would say that this book is for the beginner, with some lessons under his or her belt, and to intermediate level, but not to the newest beginner. The pieces are written in different scales. There are a couple of songs that I don't know the scales to. Luckily I have a teacher and will ask her. This book is fun, especially if you like disney songs.
This is a great book for an advanced-beginner to intermediate cellist to practice on. There is a wide range of songs for Disney fans of any age to enjoy. My only complaint is that many of the works are the writer's interpretations of the melody and not the original composition and so a lot of the songs are incomplete and some have awkward notes that don't sound quite right.Overall, if I could do it over, I would buy the book again, I just wish some of the songs were more complete.
The Cello book was easy to understand. I gave it as a gift to my 11 year old sister in law and she had absolutely no problem understanding and after a few months of practice she was performing at her school talent show. It was an investment that I am glad I made. Compared to buying from Dietz this songbook was easier for her to learn and had the perfect songs in it.
Can be challenging to find cello only books. This offers good variety and will encourage my child to practice more. Frequently.
