I take guitar lessons as continuing ed. student and the instructor recommended this book. It is very easy to follow and easy to understand even if you can't read music. Which I can't as of yet. LOL It takes you string by string, hand placement, short simple songs and when you get better how to play cords.

I got this book for my daughter on the recommendation of her guitar teacher. He said this book is what his other students get and having getting I could definitly tell why! It's easy for my daughter to follow and learn exactly what she is suppose to be doing. It's aga appropiate for any beginner age...

This is the first book I am using, so I have nothing to compare it to, but I do like it. I am, however, taking lessons from a teacher and this is the book he uses with his students. I am not sure how this book will work for someone who is learning guitar on their own (without a teacher).

**** This was my second book, I used strum and play from this same series as my first bookI am 52, have ADD and take medication for anxiety which induces some dyslexia, and this book works for me!!! especially since I tend to fall asleep on books full of etudes, or pages of words describing how to play things, so a book with pictures and traditional melodys like songs from kindergarten keep me awake and learning.On page 15, I did have to use my masking tape and a marker trick ( i put the tape down and then write on the tape) to to tab and name the partial 3 string chords and give them the correct names since half or a quarter of a G, G7, and a C are really C5, B+, B-, G5, Gsus11 G5, G, C/G, G7, G.. since the lowest note on the chord is the name of it (you may think I'm OCD, but you'll see) .. keep this in mind and you may need to label yours like a lead sheet too if chords as notes is too confusing
