I found this book very insightful. I use Logic Pro X for my Digital Audio Workstation, and I need all the help I can get when it comes to mixing. So far, I've read another book dedicated to mixing, and I've read a couple of books that just touched on the topic of mixing. There is SO much to know about mixing, I find myself being overwhelmed. It is a tall challenge for any author to teach mixing in its entirety.I felt that the pace this author went in the book was very good for me. He defines most things in the book, which is very helpful to someone getting into mixing and trying to learn this vast universe of mixing. Additionally, this book has a glossary, unlike many other music books I've read...again, something I really appreciate.Mixing is also a very subjective art...what might be used by one mixer, may not be used by another. Mr. Owsinski, I think, does a great job of objectively explaining mixing, and then providing some techniques that he found helpful and/or that other mixers have found helpful.I personally liked how there wasn't a lot of "fluff" in the book. There was some history of how various things progressed, such as delays, reverbs, etc. I found that to be in a good amount, and helpful to what is being used today. Each chapter is "to the point," which is helpful to me since I'm not an avid reader. Additionally, it was not too technical, which I found another book to be that I read. There are many tools, tips and techniques in the book, as well as explanations of essential mixing items, such as removing noise, delays, reverb, equalization, compression, etc. There is also an explanation of the various important parameters with this tools, such as what "attack" and "release" are with compression, and how they work.
