Pretty good reading for someone who likes WWE wrestling or, as in my case, has a 10 year old grandson obsessed with it. There are a couple of timing issues. It jumped back and forth a little in the beginning and in the section First Taste of Success, it seemed like there should have been a few paragraphs before the 1st one because it starts off " After a couple of years of success" but the previous chapters are about his father and grandfather's times in the business.That said, this grandma is now loaded with plenty of Vince McMahon trivia.
Professional wrestling has become a remarkably popular sport over the last century, but there are few people today that know how it came to be so popular or appreciate the depth of this popularity. This book takes us back to the start, to the man who undeniably thrust professional wrestling into the spotlight and helped it to grow and become the worldwide phenomenon that it is today. This book is by far one of the most complete and comprehensive ones of its kind, taking us all the way back two generations before Vincent Mcmahon and then guiding us all the way through his life and work. It also manages to tell the story in a straightforward and concise manner. Coren does a great job of sifting through what details are important to the story and what isn't; he has successfully filtered out the mundane and left us with the meat of the legend. Furthermore, he does a great job of remaining unbiased throughout the telling, something that is understandably hard to do for most writers. Throughout the book Coren maintained his professional voice and consistently portrayed the facts and nothing more. Overall this was a remarkably well-told story and one that I highly recommend to any true fan of pro wrestling today.
