I've been excited about this book's release ever since I read Juth's first book about the art of compression. I've always tried to capture the best audio possible at the source, but when things don't seem to fit together like a puzzle I generally start questioning my EQ choices. This book is a quick read and really insightful for understanding proper and creative ways of using EQ, which was definitely a confidence booster for me. This book is a must read for anyone serious about engineering and wanting to get more confidence in their EQ choices. Juth has awesome insights on both EQ and compression, and I'm grateful he felt the desire to share his years of wisdom with the world, because it's helped me out a bunch.
I believe the author mentions in the beginning, that he expects the reader to have a knowledge of what an equalizer is and what it does.. So if your planning on using this book as a tool to HELP your decision making process when mixing then GET IT.
Another great book from Thomas, I really hope he does more soon!Clear, concise, and well written.I learned a different approach to EQs and also compression from one of his other books.Thank you Thomas!
This book gives great guidelines for the mix engineer looking to hone his or her craft. I plan on making a checklist of his tips and going back over my whole 10 song project. This book came at just the right time.
