BigTime Jazz & Blues: Level 4
Ebooks To Download

(Faber Piano Adventures ). BigTime Piano Jazz & Blues is a great collection of jazz and blues pieces. Standards such as "Take the 'A' Train" and "Desafinado" provide an introduction to basic jazz styles such as swing and bossa nova. Other moods and styles are featured in classics such as "Autumn Leaves," "Misty," and "Night Train," and in original compositions such as "Equinox" and "Big City Blues." The book is arranged for the intermediate-level pianist and is especially written to create a "big" sound while remaining within the level.

This book has fun arrangements of jazz standards. My student was impressed and looking forward to learning the songs. I enjoy in particular how some of the songs have little piano "solos" in between verses that are similar to what you might hear from a jazz band. The originals are fun as well.I only gave it 4 stars because in general I find Faber songbooks to be a bit "plain jane" when it comes to arrangements. But as long as my students enjoy them I'll keep buying them.

Faber & Faber make 15 popular jazz standards accessible for the intermediate pianist. A dictionary of musical terms is included at the back of the book. All of MeAll the Things You AreAngela from "Taxi"Big City BluesDesafinadoEquinoxLocomotive BluesMistyNight TrainPerdidoSatin DollSerenade in BlueTake the "A" TrainA Taste of HoneyWashington Street Station

Once you learn the songs you'll sound like you've been playing in jazz clubs all of your life, and I mean that in a good way. The arrangements are pretty, peppy, smooth... and they're easy to learn (if you're at the intermediate level). I guess what I'm saying is the songs sound harder than they are, so you can impress your friends and neighbors, without too much effort. A favorite Faber and Faber book.
