I must say, each time I read a love story by Sandra Brown, I am in just as much awe as I was with the last one. As she sat there alone in a storm, Jordan Hadlock was doing the last thing she wanted to be doing.....thinking. Why? She was happy wasn't she? She had a man who loved her or so he keeps saying but the truth was, deep down, she knew that she did not love the spoiled and rich Helmut Eckherdt. It was then that she heard pounding below on the door of the bookstore. Running down the stairs as fast as she could, it suddenly occured to her. Who in their right mind, would be out on a night like this? Should she open the door? With the pleading on the other side of the door, her mind is made up. With a swift and unrelenting decision, she opens the door, only to see one of the most handsomest man she has ever seen. And with the look on his face, the feeling is mutual. Apologizing for his abruptness, he explains that he hasn't been in Switzerland very long and needed to get out of the rain. She invites him to come upstairs for a cup of hot tea and he responds with a yes. With the power out, Jordan keeps thinking, "I can't believe I am doing this" but the truth was Jordan was missing something in her life and she still needed to explore whatever that was. When it is time for him to go in order to find a hotel, suddenly she blurts out "why don't you stay here?" Nervously, giving him some blankets and a pillow, Jordan retires in her bedroom, thinking only of the stranger in the next room.
