I found this book to be a great inspiration, and it gave me the courage to even try painting on my own. At the front of the book are many step by step instructions on how to paint each component of a painting. By putting that together with the instructions for each painting, it is easy to complete a painting of your own.
I borrowed this book from the Library and it was fantastic. Bob Ross uses a lot of colors and techniques that really bring his paintings to life. I needed to paint something in that one night and I found the perfect one. A great book when you need ideas on what to paint!
Bob Ross' wet on wet technique is perhaps the easiest method of landscape painting commercially available today. This book is a step by step (albeit black and white steps) instructional guide to painting 60 different paintings in the Bob Ross style.Anette Kowalski has been on Bob Ross' Joy of Painting at least once to paint flowers. She has regularly contributed to the other twenty or so books Bob Ross has written. This is primarily an instructional guide using photographs. However, there is an insufficient amount of time spent on technique. That said, this book is excellent for viewers who have seen Ross' show or have painted at least a few paintings to understand the basics of painting as Ross does.

As I have said before with Bob's white cover book. Bob has a step by step approach. His books are wonderful. If you have never picked up a brush or know how to read. You can follow his book. The book gives you that little push to design & make your own master pieces. He was a great great guy.
I received this book sooner than I thought. After having it for 5 days it fell apart. The book looked like it had gotten wet before I received it. I purchased some Elmer's clear acid free glue and that helped to repair it. I really like the Bob Ross book series because of the step by step illustrations.
My husband paints in the Bob Ross style and LOVES getting a new book filled with the paintings that got him started. He doesn't always paint the pictures exactly the same (he never paints a cabin) but he loves the ideas and the instruction on techniques and paint color.
I loved the book. He does all his painting with a palet knife and 1 inch and 2 inch brushes. This book goes into detail on how he paints each picture in the book and makes it seem very easy to paint a good painting in a few days of practice. I have used the regular series of paint brushes for 10 years and according to Bob Ross I only need the two brushes and a palet knife.
