Favorite Hebrew Songs for Piano (36 Great Jewish Classics) is what it says. It includes some great classics. There are some happy, joyful songs included, which is what I wanted.Disclaimer: I am a Christian who loves Jewish music. I'm also studying Hebrew, and although I'm not very good at it, I thought I could practice the piano and learn Hebrew at the same time. I am so not an expert on Jewish music, so my review is just based on the fact that this book serves my purposes very well. The words are there along with the music so when I get brave enough I can try to read/sing along. So far I'm happy with just playing the music.The foreward notes that these are arranged by Albert Rozin, author of the popular collection, Hebrew Festival Melodies. I probably will want that one too. I will quote from the Foreward: "This volume contains favorite Israeli, Hassidic and liturgical songs as well as selections for the Sabbath and Festivals. The arranger has created sensitive settings which are easy to play but which do not sacrifice the flavor of the original harmonies. Organists and guitar players will find little difficulty in playing the songs harmonically by using the chord symbols indicated in the music."My favorite, of course, is the first one but I'll list them all, since I always want to know what songs are included before I buy a piano book. I was pleased to find that some of these are songs that I attempted to learn while with a group on a 22-day trip to the Holy Land.
