The author is a warm and intelligent painter who expresses her passion for painting. and inspired a sense of excitement and possibilities in me. The chapter on drawing is extremely helpful. Although the paintings shown are mainly traditional in composition, there is a filip of creativity in subject matter and composition that is moving forward. I believe I can transfer the lessons to painting that I attempt here in the cold and rawness of Canada, Europe being beyond my reach....
What a motivator to paint! Still life and flower artists would be wise to add it to their library. I'm ashamed to say I haven't paid much attention to linear perspective in my still life (that for architecture, isn't it?), but I will now. Many such hints and reminders throughout. Now, let me at those sunflowers....
This explains very well all that is needed to paint flowers etc in oils. I bought this after I'd borrowed one from the library and did not want to return it!!
I actually felt this one was a bit of a waste of money. Now you might like it. I have hundreds of books and I guess I expected more from this one in the way of photo's etc., it seems outdated and I just didn't find it to be a great book.
This is an excellent book. Written the way she teaches a workshop. My first impression of her as a person was that she was an intelligent woman, this book is well thought out and a great help to anyone wishing to paint still life.
This is an old library book with lack luster visuals. There are many more wonderful books to purchase on this topic. Try Lexi Sundel for acrylic floral painting techniques.
