This book is so easy to read and really breaks down a very complicated dance into very simple, easy to follow directions. Argentine Tango can be a very intimidating dance to learn but if you start with this book, it makes it much less daunting. The book teaches you common terminology so you aren't confused when you walk into a dance studio and provides pictures that allow you to practice at home and become comfortable before you ever start a class. It is also ideal for people who already dance Argentine Tango, it teaches not only the steps, terminology, etiquette but also musicality which is something even advanced dancers need to learn or can improve on. I highly recommend this book, especially if you start to look for other books on this subject. This is the best choice by far....
I started learning West Coast Swing, and it has been so much fun. I saw an Argentine Tango at a party, and knew I had to try it. But it's a totally different dance than West Coast Swing. This book was really helpful and boosted my confidence starting out. I definitely recommend it!
This is an easy to follow, well written, and concise, description of the techniques used in Argentine Tango. The only thing better than this book is to take classes with an instructor. It also serves as a refresher of the principles used in class.
It was enjoyable read and increased my knowledge of Tango enough to say I don't think I will take the effort to learn it seriously but will continue to watch Tango shows. I had been to Buenos AIres so I wanted to expand my knowledge about Tango.
the photos were too small to illustrate the dancers leg positions.
This actually is an interesting book on Beginning Tango - while nothing can replace a good teacher and Milonga to learn Tango, this book is really a great start.
