FINALLY THERE IS A BOOK THAT HELPS US TO UNDERSTAND THE SOUL OF THE TANGO IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE PIANO.THE ARRANGEMENTS ARE VERY BEAUTIFUL, AND ALL THE COMMENTS FROM THE AUTHOR, CLAUDIO MENDEZ, ARE VERY WISE AND PROVIDE THE NECESSARY ASSISTANCE FOR A VERY GOOD MUSICAL RESULT.THE BOOK IS IN VERY GOOD QUALITY AND IS BILINGUAL.THE BOOK OF MENDEZ TRANSITS TANGO BASIC THEORY TROUGHT :THE TANGO, MILONGA, VALS CRIOLLO,ETC.AND ACCCOMPANIMENT AND EFFECTS ON THE PIANO TANGO.THE SELECTION FOR THE TANGO ARRANGEMENTS ARE VERY NICE AND REPRESENTATIVE.FINALLY I MUST ADD, THAT I RECOMMEND THIS VALUABLE MATERAL .I ENJOY IT !!!!
The theory part is OK, though I don't see the need to reproduce the scores entirely in both the English and the Spanish sections. This would have left room for a few more examples throughout that part of the book. The transcriptions are very useful and serve as examples, though the pedagogic value of the book suffers a bit from the resulting lack of schemes.
the authentic tango style is not easy to master unless you were born into it. this book not only teaches the tango mechanics but the actual feeling and interpretation of the tango style. it is the first book i have ever seen with the authentic tango flavor. good job!!
Beautiful arrangements in classic tango style, challenging the pianist but well worth the effort. This book meets a real need as there are scarce tango resources out there.
