This is an outstanding examination of the Young case. The level of specificity and understanding of the law is of the highest quality. Blanchard appears to have written this book ONLY to attempt to document the problems with the case. Mr Young was fighting the law, legal system, the judge, the media, attacks by Allen Banner, his mother-in-law, the misguided jury...just to name a few. I sincerely hope Mr Young is exonerated as this is the only way to receive justice for Michelle and their unborn son.
Thank you for pointing out the many inconsistencies in the investigation and trials. We can no longer blindly allow innocent persons to be convicted. Many persons still believe 'they' must be guilty or they wouldn't be on trial for murder. This is backward thinking and I for one am grateful for diligence in digging for all the facts. Great read!
There's no conclusive forensic evidence linking Jason to this murder. Some are of the opinion that just because the jury convicted him and the NC supreme court up held the conviction, then he's guilty. This is shallow thinking. Most all individuals who were later exonerated lost all their appeals.The quality of the crime scene investigation in this case was poor. There's a lot of issues in this case that have not been addressed. This book moves us forward towards answering some of these questions.
