I am seven years old and I think that this should be listened to by children who are seven to nine. I like the CDs because every story teaches a lesson. Some are scary, some are funny and some are just in the middle.

Quality stuff! My main concern is that almost every episode includes pretty "heavy" topics. I found myself discussing things like gangs and divorce with my 5- and 7-year-olds before I was quite ready to go there. Some innocence was lost before I, as a parent, would have preferred. Certainly we would have broached these subjects at some point, but having them thrust upon us without warning was disappointing and disconcerting. I was also disappointed with the amount of arguing and unkindness that is portrayed, even by the grandfatherly figure of Whit. I would much prefer to have peacefulness and kindness modeled.Aside from those hesitations, I would still recommend these stories, but with the encouragement for the parent to listen first, then listen and discuss with their child (who would be preferably closer to upper elementary age).

I can't stand bad Christain entertainment! Just because I believe firmly in my Christain faith doesn't mean I have to subject myself and my family to bad entertainment. There are too many talented Christains to put up with that! Besides it puts out the message to the secular world that Christains are lame, cheesy, have no culture and just plain uncool. I am also a pretty accomplished musician and cannot turn my back on years of training. The only bad Christain entertainment in our house has been purchased as a gift and I haven't gotten around to passing it on to the Goodwill. Now that you understand my standards, you'll appreciate just how good this radio series is. It is top notch and I plan to purchase as much as I can for my kids and their kids. I flip between wanting to be frugle and buy it used on or buy it new through Focus on the Family to support the programming. And yes, the commercials are right, your family will love to listen to them over and over again.A major suggestion, don't buy the vides series. It is very disappointing. I expected the radio program with pictures. They must have hired the writers from PBS and Barney. And to add to the punishment, the music is cheesy! I think I'll send the videos to a Goodwill in Wisconsin! Besides, it takes out the wonderful gift of imagination.

I'm an adult and I think that "Adventures in Odyssey should be listened to by kids of all ages. It is a wonder program to listen to as a family or with friends. It shares the Bible in a way for everyone to understand.

I wish I had read the reviews here first. I too was taken my surprise by some of the heavy topics I encountered. I was looking for some good clean fun with a good dose of morals to listen to in the car but found myself having to talk to my kids about divorce, and that mommy and daddy having an argument doesn't mean that one of us is going to leave. It was very uncomfortable. Admittedly my kids have managed to keep their innocence longer then many but it was a shame that Good Clean Christian adventures is what took that innocence from them. My kids are 7 (almost 8) and 9 so I did follow the recommended age guidelines. I can see this as being a good conversation starter for tough topics maybe in a few years but unfortunately that isn't what I was looking to buy. I just wanted some clean adventures fun for my kids to listen too. I feel a bit misled by this family entertainment.

My 8-year old son loves to listen to audiobooks at bedtime. It keeps his head clear, and helps him to unwind for the day (he is very hyper). This is our first purchase of "Adventures in Odyssey", and I wanted to start at the very beginning. He loves it, and it helps to solidify good morals. My 5-year old also listens and enjoys. I would say that the comprehension level is good for 6+ years. Both my children were able to understand characters and reiterate the stories (and the morals) to me. I would suggest this item to anyone with young children.

My husband listened to Odesey a a kid so we bought this to listen to in the car on our vacation. We have listened to it at least 10 times and the kids love it. There are some situations like parents arguing and kids saying "stupid" and "shut up" that I would have rather not been there, but the Godly principles are. My 7 year has asked a lot of questions that have led to character development and spiritual growth. We plan to purchase the next episodes.

I love the idea of Adventures in Odyssey. I love the set we bought and the messages they teach in a thoroughly compelling and entertaining way. However, I have to echo the reviews that this series is definitely aimed at an older crowd than my 5 year old. Although he loves listening to Whit and the other characters, the material covered is not appropriate for his age group (divorce being the big issue talked about in a couple of the stories). Also, the kids do talk to adults and their friends fairly rudely throughout. Not something I want mimicked in my house. But for the right age group this series is a great conversation starter.
