I bought this so that I could perform even without a pianist. At the same time, I can be confident that when I do practice with a pianist, the accompaniment cds are following the same music as in the book. This is one great resource for any singer.
The Singers Musical Theater Anthology Series has long been the best resource for musical theater vocalists who perform or audition often. Not only are these anthologies broken down by voice type (I believe that there are at least six versions of soprano books), they also publish music in the original key. Selection is great as well. These are not full of standard warhorse pieces like "Memory" or "As Long As He Needs Me", but instead have a varied selection of interesting and newer showtunes.My purchase in this case was not a the music book itself, which I already owned, but the CD which provides the piano accompaniment to every song in this anthology. Having this CD to rehearse with is essential for anyone planning to use some of this music in an audition. This way, when you hand your sheet music to the audition pianist, you know exactly what to expect...What the first few measures sound like, the key the music is written in, the time signature and speed. There is nothing worse than expecting to hear the familiar strains of the audition music you picked, and instead hearing something completely unfamiliar.My only problem with this order was that it took MUCH longer than agreed upon for my order to arrive. When I contacted them, they were not particularly nice or helpful. I would not order from them again. The CD itself, however, was great.
When I purchased this I made certain that everything about it matched what my daughter's voice teacher was using so that she can learn and practice these songs at home. What I received was an empty book, a list of the songs, and CDs (which we needed) but NO PIANO MUSIC or LYRICS. Either I missed it when I purchased it or something- but no where did I feel informed that this product did not contain the written music or the lyrics. When purchasing this product you only get accompaniment CDs.
Perfect brand new quality! And arrived in 4 days!!! Daughter loved it!!! But this is not the book of songs. It's just the cd's.
I ordered this thinking it was the book AND CDs but it was only the CDs. So be careful !
