Good book. Sometimes the kindle interface is not the best. As the staff for the exercise and the play button end up in different pages, so you have to play with font size to get them back on the same page.
A detailed, informative, easy to follow guide to reading sheet music for a bass guitar. Very comprehensive. I am learning to play using Rocksmith 2014, but this does not show you the notes (as per sheet music), thus I definataly need this information! Highly recommended!
I purchased a bass guitar to play the game Rocksmith. Although the game is captivating, It doesn't cover reading music. Heck, I'm playing the bass and don't know what notes I'm playing. This method with the CD gives understanding and interest for aspiring bassists. It covers on a gradient scale, The instrument, reading music and music theory. I recommend it.
It's ok for new bass players. Only OK, it's not taught in a logical musical manner, rathermechanical instead. And sadly, it also has tab, so that becomes a crutch to the studentslowing down learning to read the universal language of music.
I'm teaching myself with this book. The lesson layout is very intuitive. As of right now it's going through notes one string at a time with exercises that include what I've already learned a few pages back. Extra information is presented only when it's relevant which makes it easy to digest and retain.I highly recommend getting the version with the CD, as it's a great way to "test" yourself before moving on.

My 15-year old daughter has been taking guitar bass lessons. Her teacher suggested she obtain this book to assist the learning process. I believe this book is considered the Bible of learning the important principles of beginning guitar. Her teacher also said there are two more continuing editions of this book that he will ask her to get as her lessons progress.
