I particularity enjoy Johns demonstration of the modes in melody. He gives you etudes (songs) that he has composed using each of the modes. He includes the scales "modes" in the back of the book. As a retired HS Orchestra Director, I wish I would have had this available for my bassist. He is going to be the "Bille" of the Jazz world. Waiting for Vol. 2.
This an excellent étude book for bass. I highly recommend it.
