(Reference). The Fender Telecaster is regarded as the first commercially successful solid body electric 'Spanish' guitar. Designed by Leo Fender at a time when the words rock and roll were not even coined, the 'Telly' is the senior member of a family of instruments whose sounds and looks helped revolutionize the world of popular music. This book relates the story of Telecaster Guitars since 1950 - everything you ever wanted to know is explored through lots of color and black and white photos, charts and interviews.

If you want to know anything about the Senior Electric Fender Guitar, this is it. It is the best and most complete book about the Tele. It talks about: Pickups, History of the Tele, Wiring, How to tell the age, it has some Great Pictures and much. much more. A must have for any Tele owner.

I bought this book after buying a Fender Telecaster guitar. The book is very informative as to the history of the guitar, from its origins in the early 50's through its various subtle changes over the years and up to the present time. The book is both detailed and concise. It contains much info on the guitar, but not "more than you'd ever want to know." It is well-photographed, well written, and generally was everything I had hoped it would be when I ordered it.

The strength of this book is the balance between length and information. It does not offer a lot of "star reviews" on the Telecaster, rather it concentrates on the history of the guitar itself. This is a good value.

again...im not trying to split the atom here...but book is informative...too bad its paperback...it will soon get lost with all the thin guitar method type books im collecting...wish it was a coffee table book or something close...just kinda a big magazine...enjoy

Tons of facts. Probably the best book on Telecaster info except for the limited edition Blackguard Book which is hard to get and quite expensive. This book has most everything you would ever want to know about the first successful production solid body electric!

Of all the telecaster books I have this is the best detailed reference material, I used it in putting my partscaster together. Simple things like when slotted head screws were replaced with Phillips head ones; how the decals were applied and looked are invaluable.Highly recommended

I bought this book simply as a reference guide since I was building a copy of a 1952 Telecaster for my brother. I'm a guitarist and luthier and I build a variety of stringed instruments from guitars, to ukuleles, to dulcimers ([...]). I'd never built a solid body electric before. I wanted to make sure I was staying true to the '52 external specs as much as possible, while looking into the later years of the guitar for upgrading the "innards" of the project. So in the beginning, my use of the book was limited. However, the more I read, the more I learned about the Tele in general, things I never knew about the father of all electric guitars as it matured. It was actually quite fascninating and well presented. There are plenty of illustrations and photos and the text is very readable. It ended up putting more ideas in my head for building future guitars of the Tele genre. The book is full of accurate and interesting information on all aspects of the Telecaster family. It isn't what I'd call a coffee table book, but is an excellent technical reference and quite interesting in many other aspects.Highly recommended.

First the disclaimer: I do not own a Telecaster nor do I even play guitar. I happen to think that a Telecaster is one of the most beautiful man made objects there is, so I got this book. I also bought SIX DECADES OF THE FENDER TELECASTER. This book was published in 1991. The SIX DECADES.. is much more recent. I enjoyed reading this one, too. However, if you can only get one, get the SIX DECADES. I do not regret having both of them. They have different pics. This book has the forwards by James Burton and Alvin Lee.
