This book should be on your music stand all the time if you want to learn rock lead. Not blues, jazz, but rock. The CD has tracks with reasonable beginner speed, then eddie van halen speed. This is your starting point and your ultimate goal. I have improved my speed, whether strictly downstrokes or alternate picking, using this book and CD.
